When owning a home, setting the tone of the atmosphere is extremely important. Homes represent a safety zone, sanctuary, and an enjoyable abundance for people. The kitchen has one of the most important roles: it is known as the central gathering place. So selecting the right décor and mixture of color palettes play an essential role when you are creating the perfect atmosphere that’s fit for you. Based on the color aesthetics that’s chosen, it tells the story of your personal characteristics. Are you hopeful? Are you passionate? Or are you innovative? Choose wisely! Here are some color meanings we learned from our friends at HGTV.

1) Green: “represents growth and renewal”

It offers a versatile selection of shades, where various moods can be created and paired with ranges of colors. Through its association with nature, it adds a light and airy feel while producing an overall fresh and cleanse atmosphere. Pantone Color Institute says, “This is the color of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew.” It only makes sense as to why it is the perfect color of choice for kitchens. We’re uniting one with nature: in food, in décor and in color design. Green sends an inviting message; Welcoming family, friends and guests to an essential part of your home.

Side note: “Greenery” also known as Pantone 15-0343 is appointed the color of 2017 by the Pantone Color Institute in their interview with NY Times.

2) Blue:  “evokes feelings of calm and freshness, and represents strength and dependability”

With its abilities to evoke calmness and freshness, it pairs best with bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens. The lighter the shade of blue, the calmer you’ll feel. Just think of the feeling you get when you look at the sky. Pure tranquility. And imagine this feeling in “the central gathering place” of your home.

3) Purple: “the color of royalty and creativity”

Combining different shades of purple can provoke different meanings. For example, the lighter the purple the quieter the harmony of the room is. The darker it is, the more dramatic the statement is. Shades like light lavender-gray can construct a modern and formal feel while a shade like neon-purple asserts bravery and an edge for bold creativity.  When bold colors are being considered for kitchens, it may be best to stay discreet. Apply a simple touch and allow the statement to tell itself. Although if you are someone that likes to venture, be BRAVE, be BOLD and allow your creative imagination to run wild with purple. The mystic message of your kitchen leaves your guests wondering and astonished.

4) Red: is passion, romance and intimacy

The vibrant element illuminates kitchens with warmness and dramatic elegance. If you’re leaning towards coziness and comfort, softer tones of red will provide you that feeling. Wood tones complement shades like earthy red. While red, soft gray and doses of magenta sets a feminine blend for comfort. As for the brighter textures of red, the designed space could transmit an energetic aura.
